La La La... Whatever

For the last few days of summer, I want to drink in the rest of my carefree days. Tonight Tonight is one of my favorite summer songs! Partying, dancing, whatever. It's a little awkward, but has a fun beat - so obviously I love it.

You know those days where you feel invincible? Like anything is possible and all you want to do is drive until the end of eternity? That was my day yesterday. I had my windows done, sunroof open, music blasting, and I was singing at the top of my lungs. I looked pretty awesome :)

It was just a perfect Thursday.

1) Soooo... Even though school hasn't started, I still have to do school projects. Lame, right? (Wooow... I feel even more lame by saying lame.) Anyways, I got mixed up with the times and got there an hour early. I go to a private school, about 15 minutes from my suburban home, located in the smallest of smalls town. There is literally one stoplight. So I decided to check out this small town.

Well, I was right... There is nothing there but a gas station, a grocery store, a bar, and a cute little coffee shop. I'm sure you can guess where I went. So I got my cup of coffee and just sat in the corner for 45 minutes, wasting time by playing on my phone and soaking up the small town charm.

I had delicious coffee, heard some funny/gossipy conversation, and flirted with the coffee boy (he was sooo cute!).

Also... Check out what I stumbled upon...
It is just too cute :)

2) Oh happy day! I went to Barnes & Noble yesterday!!!!!

I love that store and it loves my wallet. Of course, I can never walk out of B&N without something... So check it out:
I've read The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time before (it's such a great and really fascinating novel), but I have to buy and reread it for AP English. The Beautiful and the Damned is a novel I have been dying to read. I love Fitzgerald's work, and plus he is a Minnesota native.

3) The third thing I got from B&N was... Seventeen magazine!!!

I have a subscription, but it just ended, and boy, was I excited to get my hands on the September issue. There are TONS of cute clothes and great back-to-school advice. I grabbed my new pink pen and marked up every page. Here are my favorites from the issue...

1. I love wearing oxfords under sweaters for fall. The gingham/stripe mix is super cute!
2. Sooo... I really want my hair like this! But I would have to buy that $35 curling iron... So instead. Curl your whole head of hair, run your fingers through it to give it more of the wave vibe that her has and then tie it in a knot and pin it!
3. White jeans + cute floral top + tons of fun accessories = perfect back-to-school outfit
4. I am in love with this outfit!!! I am going out to buy a denim top and that skirt ASAP.
5. Inspiration outfit - I am trying to find these items in a way that it will look cute on me.
6. Vera Bradley ad - I am obsessed with this new print.
7. Cute preppy coat and plaid oxford - a perfect casual fall outfit.
8. I reaaallly want to try this trend sometime - cropped sweater over a dress.
Fail... Let's try that again.
I have waaay too much fun on Photo Booth.

Who Stole the Cookies from the Cookie Jar?

Uh-oh... Things are starting to disappear around my house. Not cookies, but ice cream bars.

My favorite latte bars have dropped from 4 left in the box to 1... I strictly told my family that these were for me only (since I bought them with my own money).

So now, it is time for me to play detective and solve the mystery of the latte ice cream bars.

1) Every good cop needs her cup of joe. Coffee and cops go together like peanut butter and jelly. In every good detective TV show or movie (or cartoon), there's an officer drinking his coffee and eating a jelly doughnut.

I wonder if cops feel cliche when they drink coffee and eat doughnuts on the job...

This is what I would look like if I was a police officer...

Hot stuff, right? :)

Yeah... I got my coffee in my hand, a doughnut in my mouth, and my aviator sunglasses.

2) As a kid, I loved Nancy Drew books. I devoured book by book, making my way through the series.
I have 11 sitting on my shelf right now, and probably more throughout my house. They were awesome books with a kick-ass main character (girl-power, baby!). But, here are some other great mystery novels...

Gilda Joyce - She's a middle-school psychic investigator, but the author writes her with maturity, a know-it-all attitude, and a little bit of silliness.
Agatha Christie - A classic writer with hundreds of mystery novels. Any book you pick up by her is one of the greatest mystery novels. One of my favorites is And Then There Were None.
Sherlock Holmes - Enough said.
Owls Well That Ends Well - This is a funny mystery novel following Meg, whose yard sale doesn't go as planned when a dead body is found.
Bury Your Dead - A classic mystery novel about Inspector Gamache and finding the person who filled the eccentric man looking for a burial site of the town's founder.
Letter From Home - This novel is about Gretchen, an elderly woman looking back on the summer of 1944 during WWII, where her friend's mom is murdered in a small town.

(That's Kira-Kira sitting next to my Nancy Drew novels... It's an amazing novel about an American-Japanese girl who is taught everything by her sister Lynn, while her parents work night and day in terrible working conditions.)

3) Of course, every detective must look stylish when catching a criminal. Even if high heels are waaay to uncomfortable to run, jump, dive, or basically do anything besides walking, they must be worn. I find this very sexist on cop TV shows. The female police officers look gorgeous wearing 3-inch high heels and they can break into a sprint to catch the criminal. Seriously? I can barely walk in those things. But, here are my adorable detective clothes, because god knows I won't be running for anybody.

I am in love with that $1,200 trench coat. It's burberry and it's so stylish and I want to wear it everywhere. That is all :)

P.S. My dad gets really hungry at like midnight and goes digging through our kitchen... Mystery solved!

Cough Syrup and Kleenex

That's right folks, I'm sick. Sore throat, stuffy nose, achey body... it's a cold. For me, it's always weird to be sick in the summer. I feel like you can only get sick in the school year. Nope, I am lying down on my couch in sweats and a T-shirt under 3 blankets watching Friday Night Lights (my new favorite TV show). AHH-CHOO! Just sneezed :)

Anyways, here are the best things when you're sick:

1) Weeellll.... Coffee is definitely not the best thing to drink when you are sick. Sooo I'm kind of going to adjust this a bit. I like to drink 3 things when I am sick.
Emergen-C - If you haven't heard of this, you are missing out. Emergen-C is this really good powder packet that you stir into water. It's filled with vitamins and a ton of other stuff to help make you feel better. It tastes OK - not great, but not disgusting. In my opinion, something that makes you feel better and the taste doesn't make you want to puke your guts out is definitely worth it!

Tea - A similar substance to coffee. Tea feels really good on a sore throat. My mom always makes me a honey-lemon tea. It's just boiling water with lemon juice and honey added (which probably isn't actual tea).

Dairy Queen's Arctic Rush - Yes, DQ always makes me feel better. Despite the loads of calories, this treat feels amazing on my sore throat. Even if I am sick for 5 days, I will have one of these a day. My favorite is the cherry with the ice cream (it's called a float).

2) Catching up on your reading is always great to do when you're sick. Currently, I am re-reading the Harry Potter series. So if there is anything that you have been dying to read, something you want to re-read, or something that is on your bookshelf and you haven't read it yet, pick it up when you are sick.

I also loove watching day television when I'm sick. I can watch The View, The Price is Right (which isn't the same without Bob Barker), or General Hospital. Besides that, I watch reruns of shows I own on DVD (Friends and Gilmore Girls - the 2 best shows on the planet) or I just go thru my Netflix Queue.

3) The essentials when you are sick:

1. PINK Yoga Pants are the greatest comfy clothes. Cute, stylish, and perfect for lying on the couch all day.
2. This super comfy T-shirt is perfect for lounging on a sick day, but can also be worn with a skirt and heels for a night out.
3. Sweatshirts and hoodies are the perfect items to throw on when you need to run to get the mail, but you don't want to change out of your ratty T-shirt and sweats. This cute hoodie also comes in many different colors.
4. The perfect slipper booties. Hot pink, furry, and perfect for cold toes.
5. You can't wear contacts on a sick day, so why not bring out your inner nerd with these adorable readers from Forever 21.
6. Purple is the color of royalty and the royal treatment is what you should get when you're sick. Cozy up with this blanket and everyone will bow to your feet (a.k.a. run to DQ to get you that Arctic Rush).
7. It's a pillow, it's a pet... It's a pillowpet! Okay, so I actually have wanted one of these for a while. They are super cute and soft, but I am holding out for a leopard pillowpet. If one doesn't come, I guess I can settle for this super cute panda.

When you're sick, just curl up on the couch with your Emergen-C, Harry Potter Book, and Fuzzy Blanket and watch old episodes of Gilmore Girls (what I am doing right now)!

These are a Few of My Favorite Things

I bet you have that song stuck it your head now... sorry! I love The Sound of Music though - one of my favorite musicals (HSM is right behind it). Besides my overall obsession for caffeine, novels, and fashion, I am going to write about my specific favorite items (it's hard to choose...)

1) I love frappuccinos/coolers! My favorite flavor is caramel and I always have to ask for extra coffee because I can barely taste it in just a regular frappuccino.
I also switch back and forth between Starbucks and Caribou Coffee (do you have Caribou Coffee where you're from?). They both make amazingly delicious coffee!

2) Picking my favorite book is really tricky. Probably because I don't have a favorite - I really love all books! Buuuttt... if I had to choose it would be (in no particular order):

Harry Potter series
To Kill a Mockingbird
Emma
Jane Eyre
The Great Gatsby
My Sister's Keeper
Split

These are AMAZING novels! I want to draw attention to the last one (Split). It has been nationally recognized, but I don't think it has liven up to all of it's potential. I know the author personally and I would just like to promote her book :) It's about a boy who runs away from an abusive home to live with his brother whom he hasn't seen in a couple years. It's a thrilling, heartbreaking, and intense novel.

3) I think I talked about my favorite clothes in my first post, but here's what I am obsessed with...

Leopard Print (anything and everything)
Pearls
Oxfords
Skinny Jeans
Keys
Sundresses
Black leggings and a T-shirt

Those are my favorite pieces, but I seriously love just finding the perfect outfit. One that I feel pretty, happy, and comfortable in.

But... when the dog bites: a girl just needs some Ben & Jerry's and to watch The Notebook and cry her pretty little eyes out.

P.S. I'd love to get more followers and readers, so if you have any advice on starting a blog, please comment below. Also, if you really would like to help me out, I'd love it if you put my button on your blog! Thanks!!!
